Hmmmm.....why am I here, what am I writing about...........?
Being born and raised in a coastal town in the North East of the UK, the sea is 'in my blood' (much the same as motorcycling is for me). So being on and in the water, particularly the sea, is my way of sharing experiences that can allow us to thrive, connecting with our environment to bring the same joy I feel. Enabling the possibilities for bliss and connection through time in our 'blue spaces'.
I'm currently 'launching into the deep' with a PhD, taking a situation (risk, wellbeing and environmental connection) that's certainly has resonance for me, as well as many others I talk to. My concern for making sure people can stay as safe as they can while being in/on/by the sea is what motivates me. Our connection with our waters as an island nation can bring us such amazing experiences and at the same time, be deadly where we misunderstand.
As a systems thinker, I'm committed to seeing the 'whole' where others see just 'parts'. This needs a both a huge dose of humility, as well as rigour in approaching what I'm researching. Understanding that the world is made up of many differing perspectives, and honouring those, is key to my research approach.
I'm super stoked to be on this journey of exploration, learning and curiosity. With you all as a collective set of energies, ideas and connections........
